About the artist:
Uttam Chitrakar is a remarkable young artist in the Kalighat-pat painting tradition. In his works, he brings a distinct contemporary and vibrant flavour to the Kalighat style and form of painting. Geographical Indication: Bengal Patachitra has been accorded a Geographical Indications (GI) tag in 2018. The GI tag is specifically attributable to the artwork's place of origin (West Bengal, Pingla, Naya village), and the materials and techniques used (Hand painted, using organic pigments on handmade paper.)
